These paintings are an exploration of colour - warm, cool, light, dark, large and small with endless space between.
Josef Albers (1888-1976) was a participant in the Bauhaus faculty until the Nazis closed it in 1933. He immigrated to America where he continued to influence artists, architects and designers. His lifelong interest was concerned with light and colour within geometric formats.
Minimalism, optical illusion, light and movement packaged in a square. His series ‘Homage to the Square’ over 25 years of work remain inspirational today.
