The landscape is a rich source of artistic expression, in a way it is a self-reflexive response to culture. It sheds light, to paraphrase Gauguin, on who we are, where we come from and where we are going.
For years I have been fascinated by the light and space in between forms. We cannot readily perceive some shapes with our eyes yet we know intuitively that these hidden forms and patterns exist and draw us to the landscape.
Light, water, earth, sand, and organisms are made of energy, paint is at once energy made matter. Once forms are found the eye moves to find meaning, a feeling, an expression of a perceived atmosphere.
